Whole Lotta Love / Slow Diver is a 7″ red vinyl '45 bootleg by Hell's Gate Records, Minneapolis, MN 53407. Track Origins: Side A: 07/08/1987 -- Cattle Club, Sacramento, CA Side B: 01/26/1987 -- The Roxy Theatre, West Hollywood, CA This bootleg uses a recording of Jane's Addiction at the Cattle Club in Sacramento, CA on July 8, 1987. It includes a cover Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, and the Jane's Addiction song Slow Divers, mistakenly listed as "Slow Diver". There are two versions of this bootleg. The original version comes on a red 7″ vinyl. Later versions come on a black 7″ vinyl. This live cover of Whole Lotta Love has been offically released on a Jane's Addiction Box set, but this rare version dates back to 1987, and is sourced from the vinyl '45. There are plenty of pops, scratches and scrapes (typical of underground vinyl) to prove it's historical authenticity. "Whole Lotta Love" was only performed by Jane's Addiction this one time, except for an earlier 1986 "performance" described by a fan as Perry repeatedly asking a DJ to turn down the music before the start of a gig one night. He was ignored as "Whole Lotta Love" started playing. Perry started singing along to it (loudly) to drown it out, and the band started a shambling, improvised version that the crowd went wild for... and the DJ finally turned the club music off.
